History
Children start school with an understanding of the passing of time in terms of events that have happened directly to them and their close family and friends.
When they start their educational journey, we want to extend their understanding of past events to include periods and events from the past which can be linked to stories; familiar objects and professions that are comparable today.
As their knowledge develops we will encourage them to research, analyse and draw comparisons between both ancient civilisations and periods throughout history to the modern day.
We want children to immerse themselves in those periods of history by being involved in re-enactments during enrichment activities which will enable them to be part of that period in history.
As adults we want them to continue to have a thirst to find out about different periods as well as knowing their own place in history which they can then pass on to future generations.
